Job Description:
Fenix International is looking for a talented self-starting manufacturing and test engineer to join the Fenix team in designing new products and helping scale production of our flagship product, the ReadySet.  The ReadySet is a renewable energy platform which is currently in production and distributed in Africa and other Frontier Markets.  Opportunities in the developing world will drive major growth for the company.  This new hire must be a capable engineer with an expertise  in manufacturing for products that will be deployed globally on a massive scale.

This position offers a great opportunity to work alongside an elite team of engineers and business professionals and directly contribute to the success of a fast-moving venture-funded Silicon Valley startup with great potential for social and environmental impact.  Candidates must enjoy working in a startup environment, and ideally have a passion for renewable energy and sustainable development in Frontier Markets.  This position offers a unique opportunity for interesting global travel including China for production, Sub-Saharan Africa for field visits and other parts of the world as well.  (Travel ~20% time.)

Primary Functions

•     Support manufacturing operations
•     Optimize existing processes
•     Design and build test equipment (including fixture hardware, software and data management)
•     Monitor equipment performance and make corrections for yield, quality and conformity
•     Design and support new processes for existing and future product
•     Oversee and support quality improvement processes
•     Participate in new product development from concept to final product

Required Attributes

•     Bachelors or Masters in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial preferred)
•     5+ years experience
•     2+ years experience with consumer product manufacturing
•     Experience working with overseas manufacturing and vendors
•     Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
•     Availability to travel to China - minimum 20%

Desirable Attributes

•     Experience with manufacturing of power electronics
•     Chinese (Mandarin) language skills
•     Interest in products for emerging markets
