Boda-Phones in Uganda
Entrepreneurs in Uganda are making public phones "mobile" with bicycles. In many frontier markets, cell phones have fully leap frogged land-line technology, to the point where public pay phones are actually cell phones built to look like desktop phones...
... as seen in the photo above. In East Africa, the bicycle you see is actually a bike taxi service, called a "boda-boda". This particular boda-boda driver has attached one of these public pay phones to the front of his bike, extending the coverage of his phone business and providing an additional service to his taxi customers!
