P&G;'s $2-A-Day Strategy
Procter & Gamble is making a big strategic investment in the base of the pyramid. Fortune Senior Editor Jennifer Reingold wrote a great article about this initiative, traveling to rural China to observe P&G's product development efforts.

Here's a photo of Wei Xiao, a 29-year old Chinese farmer, who shows how she washes her hair over a basin, using as little water as possible.
Fenix sees itself as a platform for all kinds of consumer goods companies like P&G, who can more effectively deliver on their promises of serving the BOP when consumers have access to electricity.
My favorite quote from the article, from P&G's CEO Robert McDonald: "Promotions win quarters....innovation takes decades."
